REPLACE EXTERIOR WINDOWS, PHASE I
Design completed in 2020. Construction Period Services to commence in 2021
Holihan Associates is providing architectural and engineering services to replace the exterior windows for Building 100 at the James J. Peters VAMC, Bronx, NY. Design replaces exterior windows on the front of the main VAMC multi-story building. Scope includes 12 different sized windows with 751 windows total to be replaced. The design includes an innovative "Window Book" document for the VA's use listing each window, by room, floor and wing location as well as size and type for ease of reference.
The design included specific provisions to improve both the quality and ease of installation. The contractor is required to build a mock up installation to be tested for compliance to Specifications and approved by the A/E prior to commencing work. Installation will be done from the exterior of the building to ensure the air and water tightness and also minimize infectious disease risk.
The purpose of this project is to create a new energy efficient, green initiative and LEED atmosphere within the VAMC. The replacement of windows will provide an all-energy efficient and environmental concept and will include a collaborative design that is aesthetically pleasing, energy efficient, cost effective and comprehensive.
The team is working closely with the VA staff to ensure all of the facilities needs are being met. BESI is providing all survey and design analysis working drawings, construction specifications, cost estimates, as-built drawings, and phasing as necessary. CHA provided the HazMat survey.
Design Cost: $496,879.80/Estimated Construction Cost: $5,263,228
